Residence Spotlight: The Harbor Collection
24 January 2024

Originally conceived as the headquarters of the Irving Trust Company by celebrated Jazz Age architect Ralph Walker, One Wall Street has been transformed from a symbol of commerce into an ideal of modern residential comfort and luxury. This impeccably restored Art Deco masterpiece, often praised as Walker’s magnum opus, features hand-carved limestone facades and ornamental details that draw the eye upward in a manner true to the style.

Now, complementing its storied history and architectural grandeur, One Wall Street presents a selection of four distinctive residence collections, each meticulously curated to meet the discerning tastes of contemporary urban dwellers. Among these, the Harbor Collection stands out for its exceptional design and unparalleled views of New York Harbor.

While setting a standard of luxury living unmatched citywide, the Harbor Collection manages to improve upon it. Comprising just eight extraordinary homes, these residences offer bespoke finishes, artful fixtures, and sprawling layouts. Each features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide sweeping views of New York Harbor out to the Statue of Liberty, and great rooms equipped with gas fireplaces, measuring nearly 28 by 30 feet. Formal dining rooms, windowed kitchens, and primary bedrooms with double exposures offer inviting vantage points from which to enjoy breathtaking views of the World Trade Center, Hudson River, and the classic Downtown skyline to the east.

One Wall Street’s Harbor Collection sets a new standard for residential design, but  Residence 3404 raises the bar once more. Developers Harry Macklowe and frenchCALIFORNIA’s Guillaume Coutheillas collaborated to fully tailor one of the building’s largest homes, optimizing amenities within the multi-exposure layout showcasing New York Harbor vistas.

Coutheillas envisioned the interiors for Macklowe himself, blending European influences with warm neutral tones. Custom asymmetric lighting fixtures and organic seating forms supplied by Mexico City studio Atra add a playful contrast to the popular breakfast nook and integrated cabinetry. The open chef’s kitchen features additional bar seating facing outward to the panorama, which includes expansive city views.

From Walker’s striking Art Deco legacy to Coutheillas’ tailored European aesthetic, Residence 3404 achieves a flawless balance between old and new while providing an ultimate level of owner-driven customization in layout and interior volume — not to mention a truly rare and spectacular view — only possible within One Wall Street’s Harbor Collection.
